HIPAA
Update
The HIPAA Privacy Rule took effect on
April 14, 2003. While Renown Health always has protected
the confidentiality of patient health information, Renown Health is taking
advantage of the opportunity provided by the Privacy Rule to update its
privacy practices. Additionally, HIPAA requires additional elements,
such as a Notice of Privacy Practices; Business Associate agreements;
and HIPAA training for all of the workforce and medical staff. WHS
currently is on schedule to be fully compliant with the Privacy Rule by
the effective date.
Renown Health welcomes the opportunity that the Privacy Rule
provides to protect the privacy of its patients and health plan
members.
